Annual General Meeting – 14th December 2021

Each year the Club holds an Annual General Meeting to present a record of its activities, confirm the financial situation and to receive reports from the Chairman and Trustees, Operations Manager and Coaches. This is an ideal opportunity to not only find out what has been happening at the Club but also to ask questions and make suggestions as we strive continuously to improve our club.

The papers presented this year can be found on the AGM 2021 page

Covid 19 – update – December 2021

Due to the impact of the pandemic the Trustees have reluctantly decide to close our Winter Term classes earlier than usual. The safety and well-being of our members, coaches, volunteers and families is of paramount importance. We will confirm the Spring Term dates as soon as possible. In the meantime, we wish you a safe festive season and look forward to welcoming everyone back in the New Year.

The Club successfully applied for a grant from this local fund. It ensured that we could open our doors to welcome back our members as soon as it was safe to do so. As we all know it has been challenging at times however with our fabulous coaches and volunteers we have been able to re-open quickly. A HUGE Thank You to everyone at Heart of Bucks for your support which has been long-standing. Hopefully as we move towards the summer we will be able to start to plan our fundraising activities for 2022.Club recently received a much-appreciated cash injection from this local fund. This  that despite a lack of our usual fundraising activities due to the  our doors were open as soon as possible. Our coaches and volunteers were keen to welcome back our members as soon as it was safe to do so  application.  successfully bid for funding to ensure that as soon as it was safe to re-on that this could be done seamlessly. This vital funding has been so important as other fundraising opportunities  PERSIMMON HOMES: BUILDING FUTURES FUND – 2020 FINALISTS

Although we did not win it was fantastic to be nominated. Not only did the Club receive a £5,000 consolation prize but its profile was raised in Buckinghamshire and beyond.

THANK YOU to everyone who voted. We know that votes were cast in Ireland, France and the UK which is great!

Horizon Sports Club has successfully applied to this fund and has been selected as the only Buckinghamshire charity to make it to the National Finals which take place later this year. Horizon was nominated for the Finals by the North London Team of Persimmon Homes and we are truly grateful.  There are 3 prizes: £100,000; £50,000 and £20,000. As a small charity relying on fundraising we are aiming high: first prize of £100,000! This would be a real ‘game changer’ for Horizon as it would ensure not only its sustainability but also enable development.

The winning charities will be those that receive the biggest public vote. This is a real challenge for Horizon however we are determined to achieve this with the support of former & current members and their families, business and local community support and trustee contacts.

Horizon is one of 32 charities in the SPORTS category and we have some stiff opposition. They are all doing great work and the final result depends on the strength and depth of our supporter network which we feel is strong and deep.

The voting is online and each voter can vote every 24 hours  using their desktop/laptop, tablet and mobile phone. The voting system will only allow one vote every 24 hours from an IP address. Additional votes can also be cast at Costa’s and McDonald’s!

Here is the link to vote for Horizon. You will need to scroll down the list – it keeps scrolling so that every charity can be near the top:  On the opening page click BUILDING FUTURES and then FINALISTS.

Voters can be anywhere in the world so get in touch with family, friends and business colleagues across the globe!!

Voting closes on 18th September – don’t delay vote every day.

Although our large scale fundraising has been put ‘on hold’ due to the Covid19 pandemic supporters continue to raise much-needed funds for the Club. The Lockley Family recently organised a socially-distanced cake sale with their neighbours and raised over £800 which is an amazing sum. Well done everyone.
