There are lots of ways that you can volunteer and help at Horizon.

Assistant Student Coach

We offer a 2 year volunteering programme for 6th form students from the following schools – John Hampden, Wycombe High School, Royal Grammar School, Wycombe Abbey School and Sir William Borlase Grammar School. If you attend those schools and would like to know more about our programme, please contact the Head of 6th form at your school in the first instance.

Assistant Student Coaches support children and young people at the classes during term time. In all of our junior sections Assistant Student Coaches provide one to one support under the guidance of Senior Coaches. The club provides full training for all volunteers including “Theory into Practice” and Sports UK courses and on-going in-house training from our Head Coach Tutor and section Coaches.

There is no previous experience required to volunteer for this programme just a love of sport, a desire to share that enthusiasm with others and empathy for those who are disabled and require additional support to enjoy recreation activities.

Many volunteers, who have been part of the Horizon programme, speak very highly of their experience and parents and children really do value the support assistants provide.
