Horizon Sports Club was founded in 1998 by Anita Templar after attending the very inspirational Atlanta Paralympics in 1996 and successfully hosting the Special Olympics in Portsmouth in 1997.
Horizon Sports Club the charity was registered as a charity with the Charity Commission in the United Kingdom on 23rd September 2002. Charity number 1093897.
Horizon works with a very loyal group of dedicated volunteers from the local schools and colleges. The volunteers work one to one with the children in our classes under the supervision of our specialist coaches. Both the volunteers and coaches build strong relationships with the children creating an understanding of their additional needs and gaining trust, thus enabling the children to successfully develop under their supervision in the many sporting disciplines Horizon Sports Club offers.
Now in 2016 we are taking Horizon Sports Club to the next stage of its journey, keeping the core values at the heart of everything we do.
We are proud to be told we are a unique club in delivering sport to children and young people and enabling them to access and enjoy sport with high ratios of support in a small group environment.
We offer our thanks to all who have supported us and to those that continue to ensure that our unique sporting offer is available to those children and young people with disabilities who wish to enjoy sport and perhaps would never have this opportunity.
